Yoga Studies at Loyola Marymount University provides a deep study of the Yoga tradition from multiple perspectives through continuing education classes and certificates and a Master of Arts degree, offered both in residential and low-residency formats. These programs help students explore Yoga's rich history, its relationship to religion and spirituality, and Yogic philosophy. Students study primary classical texts, learn the Sanskrit language, explore the health benefits of physical practice, and look at the placement of modern Yoga in today's world.

Continuing Education certificates are offered year-round in Yoga Philosophy, YogaEd, and Yoga Teacher Training and are open to all. Please follow the links below. Graduate students seeking the M.A. in Yoga Studies must apply for admission. They may choose to pursue a Yoga Therapy concentration or a Post-Graduate Yoga Therapy Certification. A new cohort begins each fall semester.

Reviews

As part of the Yoga Alliance Social Credentialing system, teachers that register with Yoga Alliance must submit a review of the RYS training program they completed.

Feedback from trainees provides Registered Yoga Schools with the opportunity to understand their trainees’ experiences in order to continually improve their trainings.

By choosing to display comments, schools enable trainees to provide insight into a school’s culture and training which helps potential trainees choose the right teacher training for their individual path with yoga.

Terra Gold was inspirational and nurturing. The breadth of the yoga lineages covered was ambitious and helped students gain exposure and context.

Excellent program for continuing education related to yoga at the Masters level, one the few programs offered at this level.

LMU's Yoga Journey taught me so much. I am so grateful for my time studying with every teacher and student involved in the program. Christopher Chapple did an amazing job leading our classes as well as organizing our time with other extraordinary professors. Thank you!

It was a life changing experience, scholarly and academic but still practical.

I took the courses with Larry Payne and it was the best program I have participated in. “Trained by Larry Payne!”
