Director of Education

The Director of Education will plan and implement a comprehensive strategy for member and public education that aligns with and promotes YA’s vision and mission, offers inspiring and engaging content that showcases the breadth of yoga and yoga teaching, and provides value to membership/would be attractive to potential new members. The candidate will be responsible for all member and public education program development, developing content that supports Yoga Alliance members in elevating their teaching (including continuing education) and finds new ways to engage the public with yoga, and is delivered through creative and appealing mediums and vehicles. The candidate will be responsible for program evaluation and growth, curriculum development and providing continuing education to our members, and managing a small project management/production team.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads development of a comprehensive education program that supports YA’s approved vision, mission, and strategy, offers inspiring and engaging content that showcases the breadth of yoga and yoga teaching, and provides value to membership/would be attractive to potential new members
  • Formulates and recommends programs, goals and objectives for education programs
  • Creates, maintains, and evaluates educational content that supports internal and external stakeholders’ needs
  • Actively participates as a member of YA’s leadership team, including providing clear, accurate, and timely information to the CEO + COO; listening attentively; engaging other leadership team members and supporting their projects; promoting inter-departmental collaboration; and supporting full execution of the organization’s strategic plan in all departments
  • Acts as a liaison to other departments regarding education products and the education channel’s platform to elevate issues and subject matters
  • Manages, trains and develops education team
  • Works closely with MarComm which communicates education department initiatives
  • Reviews, evaluates and reports on education programs
  • Manages annual department budget and reviews monthly budget reports
  • Ensures quality control of education program products and deliverables
  • Manages and evaluates vendors and consultants as they relate to education services
  • Additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

The Director of Education plays a critical leadership role within Yoga Alliance and will require a unique combination of skills in the areas of communications (oral, written, and visual), strategy, plus specific educational topic expertise. This person will have the following qualifications:

  • Subject matter expert on the field of yoga and/or yoga teaching
  • Minimum of eight years’ progressive professional responsibility for management and administration of comprehensive public/member education programs
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing yoga and social impact through yoga through own working experience or volunteer activities; passion for doing good in the world
  • Leadership experience in the field of continuing education and CE credits
  • Track record of developing and fostering long-standing, mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders (education providers, thought leaders, and partners)
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity and excellence in their work, excitement to lead, and experience leading a team to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain flexible and adaptable as needs and priorities change
  • Exceptional flair for strategic thinking
  • Exceptional interpersonal, team building, listening, and facilitation skills; ability to work with senior management effectively
  • Prior experience in a high-performing non-profit or association, or a startup organization
  • Experience developing learning platforms and extensive knowledge of industry best practices for online and blended learning
  • Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or closely related field

 

Director of Special Projects

Yoga Alliance is evolving and the complexity of its strategic initiatives is increasing. Reporting to the COO, the successful candidate will be a motivated and adaptable leader who will help our executive team build a healthy organization, execute on our strategy using effective processes and with an ethic of service, and drive our most critical cross-functional efforts.

The Director of Special Projects is an enabler for increased internal efficiency and clarity. The person in this position will: focus on project management and execution, identify and solve roadblocks; pay attention to the daily needs of the organization; and support the leadership team in driving our roadmap to achieve our strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a key advisor to and support for the COO to ensure effective functioning of the organization and strategic integration of all key activities.
  • Drive process and cross-functional alignment to execute and monitor progress against the organization’s strategic goals and related objectives
  • Help build a successful and healthy organization: find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them, design optimal workflows, and align internal processes
  • Help the COO communicate priorities, activities, and results to the larger organization, while ensuring deliverables are met. Have a strong pulse and feedback loop on organizational needs
  • Identify and take on ad hoc strategic projects - everything from defining new opportunities to executing cross-functional initiatives, and closing the gaps in business and operations
  • Participate in meetings with the CEO, COO, and other senior staff in strategic planning, policy development, and problem resolution of complex issues.
  • Attend internal meetings with the COO, brief in advance as necessary, and track and coordinate due-outs.
  • Analyze and manage sensitive issues that arise frequently in a rapidly changing organization.
  • Ensure the use and accuracy of the internal project management system throughout the organization in order to increase internal transparency and alignment and provide visibility into the organization’s progress against its goals.

  • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with the ease of a business unit owner

IT Project Manager

Yoga Alliance is seeking a seasoned project manager with a strong systems / business analysis background and experience managing software development and integration projects to join its IT team. Reporting directly to and receiving strategic guidance from the VP of Technology, this person will take a portfolio view toward successful management and execution of all projects that are either driven by and / or have a significant IT component. This person should be able to flex and coordinate with ease and efficiency across IT staff, functional leads, external consultants / vendors and deliver projects adhering to the agreed upon scope, timeline, and budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the portfolio of IT projects from initiation, scoping, execution, project closure, and delivery
  • Develop project plans, schedules, goals, metrics, and success criteria
  • Incorporate dependencies, budget, and resource needs into the overall project plan
  • Working closely and under strategic guidance of the VP of Technology and other leaders, ensure that projects are prioritized and executed on time, scope, and budget
  • Prepare request for proposals and conduct all necessary meetings to facilitate selection of service providers
  • Ensure timely status updates, communications, and follow-ups that are required to complete tasks, reach milestones, and achieve the objectives and goals of all the IT projects
  • Ensure project teams standards for user-friendly design, scalability, and secure architecture are incorporated into all solutions and products developed and delivered
  • Pilot a new initiative working side-by-side with one or more IT team members to apply standard project management practices in a consistent manner
  • Coach fellow IT staff in project management processes, methods, and best practices to accelerate the effectiveness of initiatives

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Business, or other relevant areas of study
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of well-rounded project life cycle management as well as project portfolio management experience
  • Excellent systems and business analysis skills
  • Experience / knowledge working with and applying agile scrum methodologies toward IT project management
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication, time and change management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams as well as cross-functional teams

Credentialing Advisor (Temp - 60 Days)

The Credentialing Advisor is responsible for assessing and making registration determinations for Registered Yoga School (RYS) applications in order for them to receive the Yoga Alliance credential. This includes evaluating school applications to ensure they are in compliance with Yoga Alliance Standards and serving as an educational resource to current and prospective members. The Credentialing Advisor is responsible for initiating and maintaining effective member service care, including timely correspondence with co-workers and applicants.

Responsibilities:

  • Rigorously assess yoga school applications for adherence to the Yoga Alliance Standards required to meet Yoga Alliance credential eligibility
  • Maintain professional relationships with applicants during and after the application process
  • Respond in a timely manner to Credentialing email and phone inbox, consulting, as needed, with Member Services department to provide high level service and coordinated response across areas
  • Consult with Accountability department regarding grievance and compliance issues with applicants
  • Support organizational priorities as well as support department specific projects
  • Support the IT department with user experience testing as needed
  • Support Standards and Credentialing Manager in on-boarding new Credentialing staff
  • Additional responsibilities as requested by Credentialing and Yoga Alliance leadership
  • Coach fellow IT staff in project management processes, methods, and best practices to accelerate the effectiveness of initiatives

Member Support Team Lead

Then the Member Support Team Lead position is for you! In this position, you will play a crucial role in serving our mission by providing support to our members. The Member Support Team Lead supervises a staff that provides Yoga Alliance membership support by responding to incoming questions over the phone or through email. The Team Lead models and delivers outstanding, high quality service and provides training, mentoring and support to the Member Services team to ensure that outstanding service to members. They are also responsible for staff scheduling, tracking metrics, diffusing challenging conversations, and day-to-day Member Services operations. They are the liaison for the Credentialing and IT teams to find service-oriented solutions to resolve issues. They also guide the team in proactive community outreach to foster community engagement and support membership growth and retention.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personable, friendly and professional service to members, the team and other departments
  • Guide and mentor the team to align with the organizational mission and department goals
  • Provide training to the team to draft and share high quality, professional responses that align with Yoga Alliance’s culture, brand and writing guidelines
  • Complete supervisor tasks to supervise the Member Support team and manage day-to-day operations of the department including scheduling, tracking metrics, handling escalations and more

  • 1 year of experience with writing emails, articles or blogs for a business that align with an organizational brand and mission
  • Experience with tracking metrics for a team and supporting the team to meet those metrics
  • Experience with developing onboarding and department training materials and facilitating trainings in group or one-on-one sessions

In this position, you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to serve our members in the work that they do to bring yoga into the world. Member Support Reps represent Yoga Alliance as a first point of contact by responding to incoming questions by phone and email. They deliver high quality service by listening to requests and questions and finding appropriate solutions in a timely and effective manner. They are responsible for providing education and information about the Yoga Alliance credentialing system, policies, benefits of membership, account navigation, and more. They also engage in proactive community outreach to support membership satisfaction and retention. Member Support reps must be comfortable using technology platforms such as Microsoft Office, databases, ticketing systems, Association Management Systems and/or Customer Relationship Systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality, personable, friendly and professional customer service to respond to member needs and concerns.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communications skills. Develop, draft and share responses that align with Yoga Alliance’s culture, brand and writing style guide.
  • Assist members with navigating the Association Management System to register, renew, submit continuing education, access benefits, and more.
  • Relay accurate information to educate the community about Yoga Alliance standards, policies, member benefits, and initiatives.
  • Express complex concepts in a clear, diplomatic and tactful manner. Remain positive, composed and professional while working with members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Act as a Tier 1 help desk agent to help members interact with our technology system. Submit tickets to the IT team to solve problems.
  • Ability to take initiative to complete tasks and determine solutions to solve problems.
  • Engage in proactive outreach to welcome new members, build retention and engage the community.

Yoga Alliance is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join its IT team. Reporting directly to the Director of Application development and Devops, the engineer needs to be hands-on with the development, maintenance, enhancement, and implementation of applications, integrations, and interfaces across our web and database ecosystem. The application functionality and features include but are not limited to customer relationship management, marketing and communications, financial reporting and association (membership) management in support of Yoga Alliance business operations. This position will work very closely with business analysts and technical staff of external vendors/consultants to implement the solution.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer needs and develop the concept and design
  • Plan and actively participate in all activities related to the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the full range of web applications and systems
  • Support new features, integrations and applications development to improve existing software
