Yoga Alliance (YA), a member-based association that advances the development and livelihood of yoga professionals and advocates for safety and accessibility in yoga, is seeking an Accountability Advisor to join its team. We are celebrating our twentieth anniversary this year and are experiencing a moment of exciting growth and transformation.


What You'll Do

You’ll be responsible for assisting Yoga Alliance members, practitioners, and other individuals through YA’s processes relating to grievances. As such, you must be empathetic and flexible as well as a creative problem-solver in the midst of sometimes difficult conversations. You’ll manage a diverse set of in-bound complaints that arise from the yoga community regarding yoga professionals across multiple work situations (e.g., schools and trainees, employment disputes, trademark infringement, teacher-student relationships).

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to grievances received through YA’s Accountability department
  • Conduct investigations and render evidence-based solutions
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of and familiarity with YA’s standards, credentials, and policies
  • Support and advise YA staff on policy application and accountability requirements
  • Communicate policy and procedure efficacy and implementation to YA department leads

Who You Are

  • Subject matter knowledge on the field of yoga and/or yoga teaching
  • Experience in managing internal or organizational grievances
  • Experience in communicating sensitive and confidential material with integrity and excellence
  • Experience in customer service or other relationship-oriented functions
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain flexible and adaptable as needs and priorities change
  • Extraordinary interpersonal, team building, listening and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work with all staff effectively
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple resources and scenarios to provide real time solutions
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Strong oral, written, visual and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-starter attitude

We are celebrating our twentieth anniversary this year and are experiencing a moment of exciting growth and transformation.


What You'll Do

The Credentialing Specialist will work with yoga schools and teachers to evaluate Registered Yoga School (RYS) applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Rigorously assess yoga school applications for adherence to the Yoga Alliance standards required to meet Yoga Alliance credential eligibility
  • Provide professional, high quality, and personable service to respond to applicant needs and concerns
  • Employ excellent verbal and written communications skills, expressing complex concepts clearly, diplomatically and tactfully
  • Develop, draft, and share responses that align with Yoga Alliance’s culture as well as brand and writing style
  • Maintain a positive composure while working with applicants within a fast-paced environment
  • Consult with the Accountability department regarding grievance and compliance issues with applicants

Who You Are

  • A yoga teacher with more than 5 years of teaching experience and with experience leading yoga workshops and/or yoga teacher training programs
  • A professional with superior interpersonal skills
  • A creative problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An initiative taker with a strong understanding of credentialing process and standards
  • Someone with strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • One who effectively manages their time and consistently meets individual and departmental goals
  • A former customer service junkie

We are celebrating our twentieth anniversary this year and are experiencing a moment of exciting growth and transformation.


What You'll Do

You’ll report to the COO and be responsible for oversight and management of all company corporate legal and regulatory matters and work closely with the Accountability team and our external legal counsel to provide legal guidance on trademark violations, sexual misconduct claims and other associated member grievances.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise management on general organizational contracts, third-party agreements, and vendor supplier relationships
  • Bring and pursue lawsuits, including draft/argue pre-trial motions, handle depositions, participate in trial with/without a jury, and handle appeals in conjunction with external legal counsel
  • Manage general litigation and external counsel relationships
  • Assist management with employment law concerns, claims, and company policies
  • Ensure compliance with trademarks, patents, intellectual property, and trade secrets
  • Create business legal reports and correspondence and effectively present information to senior management
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers, and the business community
  • Research and anticipate legal risks

What You'll Have

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in legal studies or related field
  • Virginia State Bar membership: current, valid, and in good standing
  • 5+ years’ experience in a law firm environment
  • Strong experience with drafting and executing contracts, corporate governance, and general corporate matters
  • Experience in compliance, trademark, defamation, and employment laws preferred
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Administrative and managerial experience preferred
  • Subject matter knowledge on the field of yoga preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong computer skills
  • Professional attitude and exemplary personal ethics
