With over 18 years of extensive and ongoing teaching experience within her studio and within public schools, Kelly Wood, owner of Karuna Yoga, has developed a style of Children's Yoga that teaches to the heart. Hi Yoga teaches postures, meditation and breathing within the context of stories and mindfulness. Children learn why the practice helps them at home, with friends, and in school. Hi Yoga encourages focus within the flood of ongoing modern life distractions. More importantly, Hi Yoga teaches the power of living from the heart. The Hi Yoga Teacher Training is one of the first Kids Yoga Teacher Training courses accredited by Yoga Alliance.
Kelly Wood is a pioneer in bringing Kids Yoga & Mindfulness classes to public schools. Kelly began teaching Kids Yoga in 2002 with more than 100 graduates having taken the Hi Yoga Teacher Training since 2008. Kelly has also pioneered Parents & Kids Yoga. Her extensive teaching and practice that spans more than 20 years provides the foundation for classes and trainings that are rooted in traditional practice. For additional reviews and comments from prior graduates of Hi Yoga and Karuna Yoga, please email Kelly: kwood@karunayoga.net.

Because Kelly has taught over 220,000 children of diverse cultural backgrounds, she is skilled in relating yoga and meditation to kids. Kelly’s commitment to children remains unwavering.

The Hi Yoga Teacher Training is suited for all levels, including parents, social workers and anyone called to serve our youth in order to help our collective future. This is a great course for parents and school teachers to learn how to manage their own stress, a necessity for soothing children. This is also an excellent course for those thinking about having a family. This course will spark your creativity and playfulness and allow you to contribute positive change within your community.

Our children need help developing the skills to regulate attention and process emotions. As we teach children how to center and ground themselves, they have the opportunity to be pillars of strength for others, to help others. You can help grow our children into the leaders, innovators, teachers and artists of tomorrow. Please join us. http://kellywoodyoga.com/hi-yoga/hi-yoga-teacher-training

Yoga Teacher Training with Kelly Wood of Hi Yoga and Karuna Yoga was very beneficial to me as a Children's Yoga Teacher. Ms. Kelly is very professional and knowledgeable in her field and I am very honored to have learned from her. Her many years of experience teaching yoga and teaching yoga to children are an asset and value to her program.

Hi Yoga left me confident and prepared to teach children's yoga. The program went beyond my expectations and I would highly recommend it to others.

I loved the Hi Yoga! Teacher Training. I learned more than just teaching yoga poses to children, I learned how yoga is a benefit to kids - especially how it helps them physiologically. With this greater understanding of how their bodies and body systems work, and how this impacts their behavior, I feel I can teach yoga much more effectively. Plus, Kelly's compassionate, respectful teaching approach set a wonderful example on how to teach children. I am so grateful to Kelly and this training. Calm brains, calm hearts. <3

I took both the Hi Yoga, Kid's teacher training and the 200 hour mixed style yoga teacher training. My involvement in public schools, close working relationship with general education/ special education teachers and my own passion to model kid friendly coping skills in today's high pressure culture drove me to Kelly Wood and her training. What I left with is a celebration of life, optimism, healing, truth, laughter, playfulness, that I have been able to lovingly translate to a child's language and prospective. Kids don't want to be told to dance or breathe or stretch, they want us to dance with them like mermaids or pirates, they need us to breathe with them like a soft steady ocean wave, they long for a partner to stretch with like tall oak tree's outstretched branches, it is this connection to our inner child and the wonderful philosophical discussions/ practice on yoga and meditation that inspires me to teach now. This has given me tools for teaching adult classes as well. Having a well planned sequence is helpful. Being able to smile, breathe and take your students in a direction based on who is present and what the day brought is the sign of one who teaches from the HEART! That's Kelly's training... To infinity and beyond!!!!!!
