Shades of Yoga is an International Yoga Teacher Training school offering Level 1 (200 hour) RYT 200 and Level 2 (300 hour) RYT 300 Yoga Teacher Training courses accredited with Yoga Alliance International.

Our courses are held at beautiful locations around the world - Bali Ubud is where we have been running courses since 2010 - we have since expanded to Europe - Australia and Morocco

Shades of Yoga teacher training takes yoga beyond the mat, exploring all aspects of living a life of balance and harmony.Guest teachers are often invited to share their wisdom with our students to further enhance their learning experience. WE never take more then 16 students per training as we believe that the courses should be kept small for optimal learning

As part of the Yoga Alliance Social Credentialing system, teachers that register with Yoga Alliance must submit a review of the RYS training program they completed.

Feedback from trainees provides Registered Yoga Schools with the opportunity to understand their trainees’ experiences in order to continually improve their trainings.

By choosing to display comments, schools enable trainees to provide insight into a school’s culture and training which helps potential trainees choose the right teacher training for their individual path with yoga.

It's quite an impressive experience with Shades of Yoga, I missed the breakfase, yoga shala, beautiful terrace and bamboo house in the resort. We learnt very authentic Hatha Yoga here and glad to know that we graduated as if taking the mantle from BKS Iyengar somehow. Especially, I love the yoga philosophy part, which is beyond expectation, although it could be much better if we could have more time to practice asana. Overall the content is super good and we have substantial take-away, although it can be better if there can be some adjustment to the 3-weeks schedule, to make it more balance, sometimes it was too relax while sometimes it was too tight.

I really enjoyed the small class size, the location and the program itself. I would prefer to have more teachers around to learn from different perspectives and experts in their field. The yoga was taught perfectly, however, I would have wished to have experts on other topics like meditation, ayurveda, philosophy, etc.

Thanks for the review, we keep our classes small for a reason, for optimal learning, most other schools take over 20-30 students we keep our classes between 10 and 16. Our teacher's are highly qualified and have all been teaching for many years as well as have much experience across all fields, we also offer a training in Bali for under $2600 USD our teachers are all legal to work and this is a very costly exercise to have the correct working documents to work in BALI. We don't employ any one with out legal papers to work in Bali - a lot of schools do, we don't the training offers basic pranayama, full self enquiry and sutras sequencing and Ayurvedic Anatomy and many more learnings within the yoga field. Im glad you enjoyed and learnt a lot, please also remember that there is only so much we can teach you in 3 weeks :) your course had 6 in total and two primary teachers - Im truly sorry you felt this was not ample. If you ever want to return to Bali you can and join in on other classes with other teachers. WE had also just started up after COVID and not working for 3 years due to BALI being closed for tourists, so we had to start small to survive thanks for the review regardless - these days are classes are ranging from 8-16 and we still have two primary teachers and Ayuvedic teacher and some times guest teachers - depending on who has the right work papers and is in Bali - Wishing you much success on your path ahead

Shades of Yoga was such an incredible experience! We were taught the roots of yoga, were given such a strong foundation for our teacher journeys. Hellen is the sweetest soul, and Tracey knows how to get you out of your comfort zone. The two instructors are a perfect pair. I am forever grateful for my time spent on the beautiful location, with people who made a foreign country feel like home. Truly the best three weeks of my life, and I would do it over again if I could! Could not recommend more!

I completed my 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training at Shades of Yoga in Bali in January 2023. It was a very well-balanced program between meditation, pranayama, physical practice, posture clinics, philosophical discussion and core learning on topics such as anatomy and injuries, sequencing a class, self-inquiries etc. We have reviewed all the main asanas with a focus on alignment and safety, which was very important to me to deepen my practice and to feel confident enough in sharing and teaching others with appropriate adjustments, tuning into someone else’s body. The reason why I also liked this training with SOY is the small size of the group which is perfect to ensure you have enough time and attention to deepen your learning, gain really strong foundation, raise your questions and I have had the feeling to be part of a group of friends. Tracey and Lauren were so knowledgeable and caring, sharing their knowledge, experience with passion, authenticity, compassion and also fun! They created a really safe space for self exploration. I am also so grateful for this personal transformational journey that I will always remember and cherish… and the location in Ubud is wonderful! I would highly recommend this 200hours YTT with Shades of Yoga.

Shades of Yoga 200 hour teacher training was an immersive, comprehensive course, covering a significant number of yoga and associated concepts. The instructor was a wealth of knowledge, very supportive of all students, and made the program interesting and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this course to others.

Choosing Shades of Yoga for my yoga teacher training has been the best decision in my life so far. The limit to only 16 students in a course has been immensely crucial to my process of learning as most the part would require sharing, bonding, and helping with each other. The whole learning felt more like a sisterhood with all the theoretical, physical, and self-enquiry practices. Not one bit the process left anyone despite anyone being sick for the day as we experienced quarter of the group had illness at the same time at one point of the course. Adjustment to the schedule due to such circumstances were effectively addressed with solution to benefit all and making sure no one is left behind. The lead teacher, Tracey has been very assertive on leading the group on discussion, firm on physical alignment on asana practice, and leading the overall flow of the course. Helen has been a very gentle, kind, and helpful teacher, including through personal approach and ensuring equal participation of each student during the course. The exams were designed more on ensuring the student had the materials, both on theories and asana, immersed in their personal practice, so not simply designed as session concluding the course and tested the level of learning of the students. The venue at Biyukukung Suites and Spa was so heavenly with its own dedicated paddy field, as for my personal reference, it's a home away from home. The place that truly sheds the stress out of the immersive and intensive course. I would highly recommend the course with Shades of Yoga and those who might've decided should really really prepared for things you could expect and beyond. You will be humbled on how the foundational practice of yoga overall, and asana in specific, might differ from the popular form of yoga practice or other YTT course. Be sure to be in beginner's mindset as the course would constantly remind you that once you're a teacher, your fellow yogi whom you will be leading to teach, would have minimum to none experience on yoga and would have the strong basis or foundation from your teaching to let them discover their yoga practice journey.
