Carol L. Bender, Ph.D., E-RYT 500, C-IAYT: For most of my adult life, I’ve been a scientist living in my head – so getting onto the mat has been kept me sane. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2004 and have been through four certifications – and I just keep learning. I’ve been fortunate to teach yoga and wellness strategies in many different settings – the yoga studio, the workplace, conferences, and outdoor venues. I’ve been teaching workshops since 2011 and am continually humbled by the vast number of people willing to learn how yoga can improve the quality of their lives. I generally teach about six classes a week, present 10-12 workshops per year, see clients, and provide yoga services for Oklahoma State University. My approach combines asana, pranayama, mudras, mantra, chakra balancing, yoga nidra, and tools from IYT. I also draw heavily from mindfulness-based stress reduction and the teachings of Jon Kabat-Zinn. Check out my website for more information at benderyoga.com.
