Donna Freeman studied at the UofA’s Faculty St Jean, earning her Bachelor of Education. She spent many years traveling the globe living in Brazil, Taiwan, Japan and South Africa before calling St Albert, Alberta, Canada home.
While pregnant in South Africa in 1996 she was introduced to yoga. It was love at first pose. Wanting to be a stay a home Mom she began practicing with her kids and teaching classes to friends in her basement. In 2002 combining her teaching degree, knowledge of child development, and love of yoga she founded Yoga In My School, one of the first kids yoga and mindfulness organizations in Canada.
In 2008 she wrote Once Upon a Pose, launched a website, started the Yoga In My School Podcast. Her work bringing yoga into schools has been featured in Reader’s Digest and the Wall Street Journal.
She fully believes that mindfulness and yoga can be practiced any where, by anyone and loves to share the joy and calm these practices bring. She is the lead trainer of the 200 RYT and 300 RYT training for Lahari Ambassador Yoga based out of the Lahari Yoga Studio in St Albert.
She is a firm believer in play, having fun, creativity and being authentic. If there is any advice she'd offer to others it's to discover your WHY, know your WORTH, and live iwth a heart WIDE OPEN.
