Alison began her yoga practice over 10 years ago to find relief from chronic anxiety and neck pain which had developed over time from high-impact sports and injuries. Soon after her yoga journey started, she witnessed the effects of mental clarity and emotional ease through the practices of meditation, breath work and surrendering to the present moment. Through this embodied work, overtime she experienced release from physical pain that was being stored in and held onto by her body.
Alison is grateful to recognize the gifts of yoga have been and are God’s mercy and grace in her life. She noticeably sees the heart of God in her work when she obediently engages with her faith and trusts by taking risks to serve others in this space.
Alison has been teaching yoga since 2015 and has led classes in various studios and spaces in Dallas and Chicago, a variety of yoga practitioners including professional athletes for injury prevention, and in trauma-informed populations. She is the Director of Training for The Abbey Yoga School where she leads 200 hour yoga trainings. Her classes bring an awareness to alignment, encourage personal exploration into flexibility, mindful breath work, and hold space for transformation. She is an E-RYT 200, YACEP, and has previously instructed in two teacher training programs. Currently she is the Abbey’s content manager, a volunteer for women recovering from sex trafficking and exploitation, and is also pursuing her 300-hour teacher training at Kripalu School of Yoga.
In peace, love, and joy, Alison
