I began my yoga practice over 10 years ago to find relief from chronic anxiety and neck pain which had developed over time from high-impact sports and injuries. Soon after my yoga journey started, I witnessed the effects of mental clarity and emotional ease through the practices of meditation, breath work and surrendering to the present moment. Through this embodied work, overtime I experienced release from physical pain that was being stored in and held onto by my body.
I am grateful to recognize the gifts of yoga have been and are God’s mercy and grace in my life. I noticeably see the heart of God in my work when I obediently engage with my faith and trust by taking risks to serve others in this space.
I have been teaching yoga since 2015 and have led classes in various studios and spaces across Dallas and Chicago, to a variety of yoga practitioners including professional athletes for injury prevention, and in trauma-informed populations. I am currently the Director of Training for The Abbey Yoga School where I lead 200 hour yoga teacher trainings. My classes bring an awareness to alignment and proprioception to support and encourage personal exploration into flexibility and movement, mindful breath work, and hold space for transformation. As an E-RYT 200, YACEP, I have previously instructed in two teacher training programs. I also work as the Abbey’s content manager, spend time as a volunteer for women recovering from sex trafficking and exploitation, and am pursuing my 300-hour teacher training at Kripalu School of Yoga.
In peace, love, and joy, Alison
