Stevi Góngora (@casa_colibri) is a movement and aerials teacher and educator based out of both Uvita, Costa Rica and Asheville, North Carolina.
An athlete her whole life, Stevi practiced gymnastics, dance, and track throughout her youth and became immersed in the pole and aerials world while studying human physiology in college. She transitioned to yoga and yoga-inspired movement shortly thereafter and continues to combine these backgrounds with strength work, creative transitions, and functional programming for a fresh and flavorful approach to fitness.
Stevi’s teaching style combines precise anatomical cueing and unique prop usage with creative funky flow. She is known for finding ways to make complex offerings more accessible and letting loose our inner creative with authentic movements pockets. Stevi has developed a deep love and respect for inversions of all kinds, which led her to write her first two books Guide to Handstand & Guide to Handstand Pressing.
Often found leading trainings, retreats, and intensives through her school – Authentic Movements – Stevi also thrives on building clear educational materials that over deliver on content, especially in the highly nuanced and ever-changing world of biomechanics and movement science.
She is happily married with a daughter and two dogs and co-operates a successful retreat center for health and fitness enthusiasts. When she’s not messing around on the mat, Stevi enjoys readings, writing, anything outdoors, and spending time with her little family.
