Amma Niradhara  amma@swarashram.net is a resident of Maheshwar, MP India since 2007, originally from NY.  She teaches Yoga and lives on the premises at SwAr Ashram located in the Maheshwar Fort on the banks of the most sacred River Narmada where she is the managing director of its NGO and mother of its Ashram.   Niradhara is called Amma by the local community, she is a sannyas serving her Ashram and the Fort area as a sevaka.  Authentic Esoteric Yoga and Moon Cycle Yoga is part of her curriculum,  including asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha, Sanskrit mantra and shastra, philosophy, ethics, meditation, and a focus on Agnihotra Vedic fire.   Niradhara also teaches Yoga at the Royal Heritage properties of Ahilya Fort and Labboo’z Lodge on request for guests with a room booking, located in the Maharani (Queen) Ahilyabai's Rajwada (palace) on behalf of earning income for the NGO and as well as she is a sevaka Yoga Teacher at Ahilya School.  All of Niradhara’s Yoga teaching benefits Swar Ashram’s charity initiatives providing Yoga & English lessons, a Vedantic Library with Computer & wifi access, Traditional Arts & Girl's Empowerment Yoga Camps that include health, safety and hygiene education, given freely to under-served youth in the community.  The Yoga retreats that she curates & produces for visitors benefit these charity programs.  Niradhara offers continuing education for YA teachers as a registered YACEP.

She has studied Yoga since 1973 and has sat at the feet of Masters.  She logged most of her training off-record long before there was a registry internationally, since all of our Gurus were from India in those times.  She began by self-study and with a teacher in the Sivananda lineage when she was 13 and throughout her life 3 Masters gave diksha to her over the decades.  Her range of teachings are inclusive of all 8 limbs of Patanjali's ashtang system, the Samkhya, Tankrik and Advaitic Vedanta Schools, the Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads,  Spandakarikas, Soundarya Lahari, Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, Yoga Vashistha, Hatha Yoga Pradipika and many more original source materials.

Since 2002 til present she is living in Ashrams where she began her devotion to Yajnya (Fire Ceremonies), began formal Sanskrit studies at Ananda Ashram and intergrated Sanskrit into her Yogic sadhana.  Her practice is rooted in the 5-fold Path Kriyas, (the Mission of her Yajnyacharya Shree Vasant) and includes the blessings taught through Swami Anantram at SwAr Ashram including his Shaktipat transmission to Niradhara as his successor to direct his Ashram and its Vedantic Library.  Niradhara was present at the mahasamadhis (end of life transitions) and last rites of these 2 Gurus.  She was a resident staff Library archivist in Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati's lineage at Ananda Ashram before that.  These elder Masters were not set up for certificate programs in their lifetimes.  For this reason, when it became available, Niradhara chose to earn her YA certifications in Holistic Hatha Yoga in India the Himalayas at Kailash Tribal Yoga School and Samadhi Yoga Ashram for Holistic Yogic studies in Rishikesh.  She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, E-RYT500.   She also graduated from The New Seminary and is ordained by The Interfaith Temple of NY as an Interfaith Minister.  As a Lay Minister, for all of the 1990s, she taught Yoga and Sacred Arts & Yoga at MCI-F, a maximum security women’s prison in MA and to youth at risk in MA through a Nantucket Sheriff’s Grant.  After her ordination, her devotion to the Sacred Fire of Agnihotra led her to be called to serve the Master Shree Vasant's Goshala at the Sacred River Narmada.  Since 2007 she is serving the same rural community in India and in 2012 she was appointed by Swami Anantram to teach at SwAr Ashram where she continues to live as the Managing Director and Spiritual Mother.
