Shilpa Ghatalia is the founding owner of Yogshakti, one of Kuala Lumpur’s Yoga studios, established in 2000, dedicated to the practice and study of Yoga. She began studying Yoga since 1989. In 1997 she became a certified teacher in the Himalayan tradition at Swami Rama’s Institute of Yogic Sciences Honesdale, USA. In 1999 under the tutelage of Swami Veda Bharati she studied the subtleties of Yoga to include Raja Yoga Meditation & Yoga Nidra.

In 2005 she trained under the Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in Mindfulness Meditation. In 2006 she met her spiritual master Ramesh Balsekar the disciple of Nisargadatta Mahraj (I AM That) and became a student of Non-dualism/Advaita.

In 2007 she went to Mysore, India to study Pranayama and the fundamentals of Ayurveda under Dr Nagaraj. In 2008 she was introduced to the powerful Russian Breathing Technique, the Buteyko Method.

Over the years she continued to study different styles of Hatha Yoga such as Iyengar, Anusara and Yin Yoga in her quest to find a system, which led to spontaneous meditation. In 2006 she went on to study with master teachers, Paddy McGrath and Diane Long who initiated her into the revolutionary practice of *Vanda Scaraveli. This, to her was the ultimate practice that led to lightness, joy and freedom.

She then went on to create Integrative Yoga which is the synthesis of the teachings of the Himalayan tradition of Swami Rama; the Intuitive Yoga of Spinal freedom of Vanda Scaraveli; Taoist Yin Yoga; the Zen Mindfulness tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh; the teachings of Eckhart Tolle and the Philosophy of Advaita Vedanta. The richness of each of these traditions make it a complete & unique system of mind-body-spirit health.

She trains teachers and runs workshops both internationally & locally.

*Vanda Scaraveli: author of the book – Awakening the Spine
