RISHIKESH YOGASHALA is an officially certified yoga school by Indian central government as an ashram (social welfare facility in which yogic teachings are taught) in an Indian Himarayan town called Rishikesh which wins the nickname of the “holy land of yoga”.

The school is owned by an Indian yoga teacher, Neerav Prasad and his wife, also a yoga teacher, Marrie Prasad.

At branch school in Japan, we provide a yoga teacher's training course in which trainees learn deep wisdom and philosophy of yoga, making a difference to typical yoga schools where students look for only “exercise”, “beauty” or “fitness”.

In addition to the instructor course, we provide a variety of easy-to-join lessons based on Hatha yoga for people in general depending on the purposes and preferences.

Elements of Hatha yoga

Posing (asana)
Breathing (pranayama)
Hand seals and symbolic body postures (mudra)
Shatkarma (purification)
Bandha (energy control and energy lock)

Meditation

Drishti (focused gazes)

Yoga is not all about just posing.

In the home of yoga, India, it is said that it’s not something you “do”, but your life itself: how to live.

Yoga is originated from ancient Indian Vedic philosophy and fruit of life science and life philosophy which has been handed down through thousands of years in human history. Posing is just a part of it.

Posings are also called “asanas” in Sanskrit, and this word is originated from seating positions which are the ways to have peace of mind (meditation).

Since our mind and body is closely connected, no doubt we can recognize many types of physical and mental effects by taking poses. Furthermore, we can find a lot of hints to a universal question “How can we live more happily and comfortably?” in teachings of yoga beyond the time, countries and regions, races, cultures and customs.

The reason to take up doing yoga can be different from person to person. It may be stretching, relaxation, dissolving lack of exercise, stress release, going on a diet, beauty regimen or health improvement, and any reason is good enough to start. Yoga will certainly add fitness, beauty and color to your life.

Our staff and instructors are eager to share the wonder of yoga with you.
