I attended the October 2023 3-week intensive YTTC at Sundari in Lagoa de Albufeira. I decided to attend this course because it was relatively affordable compared to other programs in Canada (where I am from) or elsewhere. I took this course with the goal of becoming a yoga teacher and after completing the training I feel well equipped to begin this journey. Overall, I had a great experience there and I am happy to have attended. The accommodations, food, yoga Shala, and location were all lovely and contributed greatly to being in the right state of mind for the material being taught. -The accommodation was perfect, everything was provided, even extra blankets for the cold nights. -The food was freshly cooked vegetarian and vegan food- Carmen and Eugen kindly made sure all diets were accommodated for and that we were all getting proper nutrition. -The yoga Shala was beautiful and peaceful; however, it did flood multiple times during the YTTC due to heavy rains-but this just helped us to practice Santosha :). -The location in Lagoa de Albufeira was amazing as well. I enjoyed walking and running through the town, forest, and beach during my free time. Getting an uber to and from the location from Lisbon and Sesimbra was quite easy. The town is quite small though and doesn't have a grocery store or pharmacy or anything-which was fine for me but perhaps something to consider. I found that Carmen and Eugen provided everything we needed so it was no problem. The course itself was very intense with a lot of material being covered every day. We were given lots of breaks throughout the day though, and Carmen was very open to accommodating the schedule to how we were feeling. Carmen was also great at answering any questions we had. After completing this training, I feel like I have a great base of knowledge to start my teaching journey. For the physical practice I would also note that this is specifically an Integral Yoga training, so we did not learn the typical “flows” of a Western yoga class, aside from Sun Salutation. The focus of this type of yoga training is more based on holding poses for longer periods of time and feeling their effects before continuing to a new pose.
