Yoga Rascals offers high quality in-depth kids yoga teacher training in a small group setting. We have been training children’s yoga teachers since 2009. Developed in the classroom in close cooperation with students and teachers, the Yoga Rascals program presents a unique approach to making yoga accessible to children of all ages. Our method is creative, innovative, and imaginative. It is kid-tested, parent-approved, teacher-acclaimed, and lots of fun! Yoga Rascals is San Diego’s leading children’s yoga company. Yoga Rascals founder Sünje O’Clancy has been teaching yoga to kids in preschools, elementary and middle schools, after-school programs, recreation centers, libraries, and yoga studios since 1998. Yoga Rascals is California’s first Yoga Alliance® approved Registered Children’s Yoga School.

Reviews

As part of the Yoga Alliance Social Credentialing system, teachers that register with Yoga Alliance must submit a review of the RYS training program they completed.

Feedback from trainees provides Registered Yoga Schools with the opportunity to understand their trainees’ experiences in order to continually improve their trainings.

By choosing to display comments, schools enable trainees to provide insight into a school’s culture and training which helps potential trainees choose the right teacher training for their individual path with yoga.

Sunje was an amazing teacher. She made everything easy to understand and really prepared us for the field. She always made sure we were comfortable and answered any questions we had. I learned so much and glad I attended her training.

Sunje is among the most competent, caring, and effective teacher's teachers that I've come into contact with. Her training was incredibly thorough and presented in a carefully planned manner. Her use of guest instructors for specialty areas of the training was helpful. I have used the tools (lesson plans, games, stories, etc.) that she armored us with over and over again with the kids classes that I've taught thus far. She teaches so much more than just kid-yoga-entertainment/babysitting. Rather than relying on songs and videos from the web, she has created her own participatory poems that help with memory, speech (and empowerment), and of course, learning the poses. Sunje incorporates the model of Positive Discipline into the training as a way for interacting with children, which contrasts with traditional disciplinary methods. Using this framework for interacting with children (in and out of yoga classes) has surprisingly been really effective. I have recommended her training to several people in my hometown, and it is well worth the traveling to San Diego to get this thorough training. Sunje provides teaching experiences in the "real world" in each of the three weekends of training. Brilliantly, she includes a spectrum of kids' yoga venues -- public schools (after school program in grammar and middle schools), private preschools (during school program), and a public library. The small teacher training class size ensured each of us trainees had a thorough exposure to the material and ample interactions with Sunje. I appreciate how she emphasized the importance of each of us teacher trainees thinking about the kind of children's yoga teacher we want to become based on our interests, strengths, and goals. I'd do the program again in a heartbeat if only to have that wonderful experience again!
