The 2016 State of Our Union is Here!
February 18, 2016
In 2016, we mark another year of tremendous growth for the yoga community. Today, we’re releasing our 2016 State of Our Union—our annual report that summarizes all of the progress and key accomplishments we’ve made over the past year. This report also includes new facts and figures about the yoga community as a whole, including insights from the 2016 Yoga in American Survey.
Our advocacy initiatives grew throughout 2015 as we entered five new states and our first nation outside of the U.S.—Slovenia. We also marked several victories including a favorable outcome in the “yoga in schools” court case and the passage of two laws protecting yoga teacher trainings in Colorado and Arkansas.
We nearly doubled the number of Online Workshops we’ve hosted too; in 2015, we added 21 workshops to our lineup and over 5,300 people attended these events live. Since the 2015 State of Our Union came out last year, the number of reviews created through Social Credentialing has almost doubled to over 48,000 reviews. Mirroring the strong growth of yoga as a whole, our membership of Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®s) and Registered Yoga Schools (RYS®s) grew by 18% in 2015.
Looking to the Future
The 2016 State of Our Union also has some previews of the projects and initiatives we’ll be working on for the rest of 2016. They include expanding the impact of the Foundation, launching the new YACEP designation and much more!
We’re proud to see the fruits of our labor and hope that you share in our excitement; we would not have been able to do any of this without your help, feedback and support. Thank you to our members, and we look forward to supporting you even more in 2016!
