We Did It, Alaska! Our YTT Bill Is Law!
Last Updated: December 9, 2016
We are pleased to share breaking news – Governor Bill Walker signed House Bill 305 into law! Thank you to the Yoga Alliance® community and the diligent efforts of Alaska legislators for their overwhelming support. This legislation, championed by Yoga Alliance, will protect the rights of yoga teacher training (YTT) programs to operate in Alaska without unnecessary intrusion. YTT programs will no longer be regulated as vocational schools by the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE). We thank the lawmakers who supported this legislation and Governor Walker for signing it into law! The law goes into effect on September 16, 2016.

Thank Your Elected Representatives!
If you haven’t shared your gratitude already, please send a “thank you” email to our bill sponsors and committee chairs:
We also want to extend our thanks to all of the Alaska yogis who were involved in supporting this bill and who testified in person at committee hearings. We believe this bill not only helps small businesses, but also the entire yoga community!

Pay It Forward!
Alaska is the sixth state where we’ve been successful in protecting yoga from troublesome regulation in the past two years. We know future wins are not guaranteed and need your support. Consider supporting our advocacy efforts with a financial contribution to pay if forward to other states whose yoga communities are at risk. With your help, we can ensure that other states will not hinder their thriving yoga communities with harmful regulations.
We’re proud to work on your behalf to protect our vibrant yoga community.
