Graduating from Harvard with honors in biochemistry, Pashupati met a yogi from Ananda Marga and, in a series of Cosmic coincidences, began the practice of meditation and yoga in earnest. Making his way through medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia, he met his beloved wife Shivapriya (nee Ellen) at a yoga class he taught at Jefferson Medcal College. The rest is history.
Having been a gymnast, stage performer, student of multiple languages and musical instruments, he brings a breadth of talent, humor, and wisdom to his courses. He has taught successful classes in prisons, mental health associations, preschools, battered women's shelters, libraries, public schools, Veterans Administration centers, and more. As a Board Certified Family Physician, he brings a unique blend of science and mysticism to his courses, which are well attended by those wishing to become yoga teachers.
Most recently, he was privileged to train 85 yogic sannyasis and sannyasinis (monks and nuns) in Calcutta to enable them to earn RYT status and teach in colleges and high schools. Immediately after, he trained another 25 Local Full Time workers for Ananda Marga, and they are also teaching at colleges in India.
