My passion for holistic health and fitness was ignited back in 2002 when I took my first yoga class as a college fitness course. While yoga started out as a physical activity for me, it quickly developed into a practice with much deeper meaning. Yoga helped me through some of the most stressful and difficult times in my life. It was truly that old friend that I could go to whenever I needed. Yoga met me where I was and never judged me, which was exactly what I needed at the time.
I was called to share my passion and all that I gained from yoga with others and completed yoga teacher training in 2008. I’ve been teaching ever since. Over the years. I've gained experience teaching all levels of yoga students, kids, teens, prenatal, and postnatal clients.
I was always drawn to the energetic principles of yoga. Early on in my yoga journey I found peace and contentment through a reiki session. In 2007, I apprenticed to become a Reiki Master/Teacher. I've seen reiki energy do some amazing things!
As I gained more experience teaching yoga, I began to become much more interested in health, fitness, and nutrition. I began regularly practicing barre as a great physical compliment to my yoga practice. Barre in addition to yoga, afforded me the core strength and stability needed to balance out my growing flexibility.
In 2012, always the perpetual student, this deepening interest in health and fitness led me to dive into training to become a Nutrition Education Trainer, Health Coach, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant, and Barre Instructor. I had finally found my passion in life and I knew exactly how I wanted to help others.
After giving birth to my son in 2014, I became much more interested in postnatal fitness. There was so much information out there about prenatal exercise, but the information about postpartum fitness was sparse to say the least! I felt alone and lost on this journey to regain the fitness level I once enjoyed without a second thought. This sparked my desire to share what I’ve learned about postnatal fitness with other new moms. I have experience working with diastasis recti, c-section issues, retraining core/pelvic floor strength, and adjusting postural imbalances.
My formal education includes a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology as well as a Master’s degree in Exercise Science. I spent over 7 years working in the field of school counseling. I’m a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) as well as a certified school counselor. I’ve also worked as an assistant professor of Exercise Science.
My current career endeavors allow me to gracefully marry my passion for helping others with my passion for health and fitness. I can truly say that I love what I do!
