I discovered at a very early age that I loved to teach. At the age of 8, I started teaching other kids intricate tricks and physical fitness training in workshops and after school programs. From that early training and onward through various jobs, trainings, and college degrees I have developed a clear understanding of which methods and practices interest and encourage a wide range of learners in different settings. It is my joy to teach.
My teacher heart led me to pursue yoga teacher certification after a feeling and experiencing the miraculous healing power of yoga in my own life. As a graduate of the Inner Power Yoga ( RYT -200, July 2017), and Authentic Yoga Teacher Training (ERYT-200, RYT 500, April 2021) my focus in teaching and sharing yoga centers on personal power through the mythological stories of yogic texts and the rich culture of spiritual philosophy that is blossoming forth from all corners of the earth. I believe yoga is a vital and vibrant practice that aligns the energies of physical, spiritual, and mental wholeness – even and especially for children!
As a mother of three children, two biological and one foster-adoptive, I have spent the last decade seeking out the best of books and parenting methods to guide my children into their greatest self. What a gift and responsibility it is for all of us to nurture these little people and pass on the best of our learning to them. It was very natural, therefore, for me to continue my yoga teaching training and certification to understand how to specifically transmit the tools of yoga for the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of children. I believe that the tools that so many adults are discovering later in life need to be an integral part of our entire family. It is my experience and belief that yoga heals in both subtle and profound ways; through the conscious work of honesty, grace and balance we live a whole, even perfect, life.
I am one of very few Registerd Children's Yoga Teachers (RCYT) in the state of Indiana. I have spent over 100 hours with Global Family Yoga, YogaEd, and certified fully with Radiant Child Yoga with Shakta Khalsa (Lana Reed) in 2019. Through various children specific trainings I learned specifically how to adapt yoga for little minds and bodies to give them tools through yoga asana, stillness, cooperative games, stories, and inner power themes that will enhance their development through adolescence. My training includes yogic philosophy as adapted for children, child developmental psychology, brain based learning, social-emotional learning, cooperative based classroom education, national standards for health and physical education, and the therapeutic application of yoga for children with special needs including autism, ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing integration, and other special needs. I am fascinated how modern psychological studies and research in tandem with ancient yogic practice are supporting and enhancing the very best in the next generation!
