Sandy’s fascination with Eastern culture began at an early age— but it was the realization of how the state of the body relates directly to the state of the mind that led her to fall in love with yoga.
Seeing how these practices offer an access point to consciousness and joy ignited immediate passion and compelled her to go deeper. Sandy completed her 200-hour RYT certification under David Magone through a Buddhist framework, and broadened her study through advanced teacher training with Ame Wren, mentorship from Caitlyn Visconte, and is currently enrolled in an academic advanced yogic studies program. She is humbled to study Bhakti yoga with Raghunath in both the US and India; Bhakti has become the heart of her personal practice. Her ongoing study of yoga history and philosophy is a vital connection between what she experiences as a practitioner and what she shares as a teacher.
The course of Sandy’s life has largely been shaped by dedication to these practices and the resultant insight.
She sees asana as an opportunity for inquiry and self-discovery: using movement to ultimately understand who you are beyond your body.
Classes are physically challenging, yet modifiable for a wide range of abilities, and she intentionally shapes the atmosphere to promote inward focus. Expect an experience infused with traditional yogic teachings and attention to technique and alignment. Sandy draws inspiration from a range of movement styles, philosophers, and artists.
To Sandy, yoga does not give easy answers, in fact, it asks something more from us. She believes clearing the space to move with your breath can be a gateway to awakening.
