Sara-Mai is a writer, yoga and meditation instructor. The founder of Baja Sur(f) Yoga, she teaches donation-based classes in her tiny, off-grid hometown on the Pacific Coast of Baja California Sur.
Sara-Mai found yoga in 2006, after a successful career as an NCAA Division I rowing coach, when looking for new ways to cross-train for her own competitive racing. She was immediately impressed by the athleticism and physical challenge of the practice. Years later, it is the spiritual side of the practice that keeps yoga part of her daily regimen. Sara-Mai's classes are equally informed by her athleticism and her spiritual studies in Yogic philosophy and Tibetan Buddhism.
Sara-Mai completed a Master's Degree in Sport Management at the University of San Francisco in 2004 and is a 1999 graduate of Tufts University. She is a certified Experienced 200-hour Yoga Teacher under Yoga Alliance and a certified 500-hour Remedial Yoga and Applied Mindfulness Advanced teacher with Bodhi Yoga Spain under the Independent Yoga Network (UK).
As a writer, she is a regular contributor to the blog at Mindworks. She also writes for Mindfulness Exercises in addition to teaching in their mindfulness meditation teacher training certification program.
