About Karen Taylor

Growing up in New Jersey, she and her friends decided to start a Yoga Club in high school. Although the club was short-lived, yoga remained in her heart and she revisited the practice in 2001 after running her second marathon. Living in Fairbanks, AK at the time, she knew she needed something to supplement the repetitive motion of running and to open up those runner's hips. Her practice soon expanded beyond asanas to encompass the balance and light yoga can bring to life. She moved to Colorado Springs in 2008 and she decided to become an instructor through the Lahiri School of Yoga in 2009. She currently holds a 200-hour E-RYT certification in Hatha Yoga with Yoga Alliance. And, wanting to explore more how the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga can come together, she became a certified ThetaHealer and also completed the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Level 1 Teacher Training later that same year. In December 2009, she moved to La Manzanilla, Mexico to teach yoga and pilates at LiveBliss studio.

While in Mexico, the beauty and magic of the country inspired her to create her own yoga studio here. She looked up to her roof and knew she found the spot. She had a palapa roof built and a bathroom constructed and Bending Tree Yoga was created and opened for classes in February 2011.

You can practice amid the sounds of the jungle and experience the peace and joy of animal energy as many Yoga Cats frequent the studio during class. All Yoga Cats are rescues from the area. Over the years each cat has come to her by one circumstance or another and has now formed an animal oasis and sanctuary that incorporates the studio.

Karen expanded her services to Reflexology after attaining a certification in August 2011.  She believes that everyone has the power and spirit to create their own dream; she teaches from the heart and invites you to discover your strength and creativity from the inside out and live from heart consciousness.
