Through her fun and simple approaches and a hyper focus on alignment students are able to easily grasp the most difficult of yogic concepts, theories and asana practice. She keeps her classes light hearted and enjoyable to help ease tense yogis. She is at her best when inducting new practitioners into the asana practice.
Melanie was first introduced to Alignment based yoga in 1999. She was inspired and began to turn towards the practice over and over again. The mind, body and spirit connection that happened during practice was enchanting and called to her daily.
Melanie specializes in teaching Beginner’s. She continually approaches the form based physicality of the postures in yoga. Melanie includes everyone in understanding the poses and how to move deeper into the poses. She helps all students create a foundation that they can build upon.
She sees herself as a forever student and incorporates much of her learnings into her classes. Through this growing process she hopes to help her students grow as she brings them the most updated teachings of yoga. She gives her students what she believes is the best yoga knowledge out there to help them become better.
Melanie's five years of intense yoga training included, but were not limited to: Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Sanskrit, Anatomy, Chakras, Ayurveda, Bhakti/Kirtan, Yoga/Hindu History, Hindu Religion, Prenatal Yoga, Partner Yoga and Anusara Principles of Alignment. Her advanced studies course included Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Ethics, Yoga Lifestyle, Teaching Methods, Fundamentals of Teaching, Contemplative Arts, Asana Intensives, Sequencing Strategies, Sanskrit, Bhakti, Transitions and so much more.
Whether it is a regular yoga class or workshop, Melanie brings intelligence into her teachings. The classes encompass an over all mind body experience that feeds every part of a person.
