Dr. Buegel began teaching yoga in 1974. He is an initiate of H. H. Swami Rama, founder of the Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy. In addition to his yoga training, Dr. Buegel has extensive training in bodywork disciplines and incorporates self applied bodywork and somatics routines into hatha yoga classes. In addition to his training in samaya tantra, he has also been trained in multiple energetic disciplines. He has a particular interest in teaching practitioners to focus on the pranas (prana dharana) during yoga practice.
Now retired from active practice, Dr. Buegel was certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and used complementary modalities in his practice for 25 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. His practice focus was to incorporate constitutional modalities such as nutrition, homeopathy, yoga, and bodywork in addressing chronic conditions for which traditional methods had little to offer beyond palliation.
