My teaching style and philosophy is focused on helping people feel better, physically and emotionally, so that they can age well and live their best life. I have been teaching yoga since 2006. I have recorded over 1,000 hours of training, and counting. I’m grateful to have taught individuals from all walks of life. Today, my teaching is centered on providing a yoga experience to students that is supportive and adapted to the aging process we all (hopefully) eventually experience.
I recognize that everyone is unique and that’s why I focus on function, not form. I really don’t care what your poses look like. I do care that you gain the intended benefit of the poses. My goal is for my students to leave our practices together feeling well, at ease, de-stressed and happy - and to take these feelings with them into their everyday lives.
Yoga totally changed my life when I began taking classes in 2001, not just by improving my strength and mobility, but yoga gave me tools to settle down the constant internal dialogue spinning in my head. Learning to centre and calm my busy mind changed my World! I love the expansiveness and history of yoga. A lot of my spare time is spent studying yoga - it’s a huge, amazing subject and the learning never ends.
The first 31 years of my life were on a tiny island called Guernsey, located between England and France. My parents and extended family remain there, and I visit when I can. I now live in Peterborough, Ontario and have lived in this area since arriving in Canada in August 1999. I cannot imagine not living near water. I love the outdoors, especially in summer, when I can spend time on and in the beautiful lakes in this area..
In addition to teaching and studying yoga, I work in a private horse barn caring for retired competition horses. Horses have been a passion since I was very young, and I began yoga with the aim of remaining strong and mobile to be able to ride them - it worked! My adorable dog Chewy, and my very personable cat Frank, often make appearances in my live on-line classes. I share my love of animals and the outdoors with my life partner, Graeme. We enjoy spending time with our families, walking our dogs, mucking out stalls, and aging well together.
My goal as a teacher is to help you help yourself to better health and wellness.
