Shelley Wu, PhD. started to practice yoga in 1992. She completed the 200-hour teacher training in 2003, during which she studied Indra Devi Classic Style. Shelley has since then become an eager student of many different styles of yoga, including: Ashtanga, Iyengar, Restorative and Silver Age Yoga. She also studied Yoga Philosophy & Meditation, guided by Swami Dharmananda, Rishikesh, India. Shelley had additional 300-hr teacher training with YogaWorks in 2013, and became a E-RYT500. Shelley is also certified by IAYT. She has over 2000 hours client contact experience.
Having practiced yoga in America, Europe and Asia, Shelley, a social scientist, is interested in the cross-influence of the yoga tradition and varied cultural backgrounds of its practitioners. Seeking for deeper meanings of yoga, Shelley also made a pilgrimage to India in 2009, where she studied the Vedas in ashrams and practiced yoga on the banks of the holy river Ganga.
Shelley has taught classes in yoga studios, fitness centers and schools in San Diego. During thousands of hours of private sessions, Shelley strives to meet her clients where they are at, whether it is yoga philosophy study, meditation, or asana practice of a suitable style.
