In 2007 I completed a 300 hour teacher training program with J.J. Gormley, at the Sun & Moon Yoga School in Arlington VA. I am certified to teach yoga to people with Multiple Sclerosis (with Karen Clarke O’Donnell in 2008) and completed Mala Cunningham’s Cardiac Yoga certification program in 2008. I teach hatha yoga, concentrating on awareness and alignment. Over the years, I have taught people who are blind, have MS, heart conditions, and other restrictions including restrictions to wheelchairs. In 2011 I participated in Swami Jnanashvara Bharati’s three-week-long yoga meditation retreat in Rishikesh, India.
I believe that yoga asanas (postures) teach us to be present, to be mindful and to be aware. Yoga meditation helps us to deal with the struggle of living a whole life. Yoga offers many gifts. In all cases we must be present to win.
I have previously taught at the Greenville Yoga Center (no longer operating), the PORT program for recovering teens, the Purple Blossom Yoga Studio, Greenville, NC. For about 12 years prior to the COVID Pandemic I held and taught meditation sessions at my home.
I currently teach hatha yoga classes at East Carolina University Health's (our local hospital) Wellness Center and at the Caswell Developmental Center (in Kinston, NC). I have previously taught meditation classes at the Purple Blossom Yoga Studio, and chair yoga classes at the hospital's cancer center.
I have loaded a number of short videos as well as full length classes on my YouTube channel which can be accessed by searching for YogiDonaldo. Or go directly to my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCFF-EqjA7MMog0CQXEbd_Q
