Sue owns and operates her own business: Yoga, Reiki ... and More, and currently offers 4 yoga classes / week in 3 South Grenville communities. Two of these are for members of Walker House, a recreation centre in Prescott for adults aged 50+; one is a Chair yoga class.
She also teaches in the privacy of her clients' homes and cottages, at retreats and group functions, at schools and in the workplace.
In addition to asanas (postures), Sue's gentle class includes elements of breath work (pranayama), visualization, affirmation, relaxation, and meditation. Participants are invited to discover and deepen their yoga practice through development of self-awareness and self-acceptance, to experience the power of the breath and proper alignment, and to connect the body, mind, and spirit in a peaceful state of balance. Classes are suitable for beginners as well as experienced students.
Ranging in age from 18-85, Sue accommodates her students' busy and changing schedules by encouraging them to make up any missed classes at an alternate class during the same session.
To her role as a yoga teacher, Sue brings a solid background as a health promotion specialist with provincial and national non-profit organizations. Her areas of focus were physical activity, healthy eating, healthy weights, environmental health and injury prevention.
In 2013 Sue received her 200 hour Akhanda (holistic Hatha) teacher training through the Bodhi Tree Yoga Centre in Kemptville Ontario, affiliated with the World Conscious Yoga Family in India. She holds additional teaching certification in Yin yoga, and is currently enrolled in the 300 hour advanced teacher training program through the Bodhi Tree Yoga Centre. A student of yoga for more than 12 years, she has explored many styles, including Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Kripalu, Kundalini and Anusara. Sue is grateful to her many teachers for their guidance and inspiration along the way.
Sue discovered that Yoga and Reiki complement each other beautifully. After 10 years as a Usui Reiki practitioner she completed the Master level training and became a Registered Practitioner with the Canadian Reiki Association. For more than 4 years her practice has been located at the office of Jaime Shields, RMT, in Prescott.
A certified, level 2 Urban Poling instructor, Sue hosts Nordic walking clinics, leads Nordic walking groups, and sells Urban Poles.
Sue offers wellness workshops and retreats, often in partnership with other service providers.
