Sue has owned and operated her own business, Yoga, Reiki ... and More, for the past 8 years. Until Dec. 2020 (Covid-19 lockdown) she offered yoga classes throughout South Grenville and area. She has also taught in the privacy of her clients' homes and cottages, at retreats and special events, and at schools. She looks forward to teaching in person again when Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.
In addition to asanas (postures), Sue's holistic Hatha classes include breath work (pranayama), visualization, affirmation, meditation, mantra, and relaxation. Participants are invited to discover and deepen their yoga practice through development of self-awareness and self-acceptance, to experience the power of the breath and proper alignment, and to connect the body, mind, and spirit in a peaceful state of balance. Classes are suitable for beginners as well as experienced students.
To her role as a yoga teacher, Sue brings a solid background as a health promotion specialist with provincial and national non-profit organizations. Her areas of focus were physical activity, healthy eating, healthy weights, environmental health and injury prevention.
Sue completed her teacher training through the Bodhi Tree Yoga Centre in Kemptville Ontario, affiliated with the World Conscious Yoga Family: 200 hour Akhanda (holistic Hatha) (2013); 40 hour Yin yoga; 300 hour advanced Hatha (Feb. 2020). A student of yoga for more than 15 years, she has explored many styles, including Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Kripalu, Kundalini and Anusara. Sue is grateful to her many teachers for their guidance and inspiration along the way.
Sue discovered that Yoga and Reiki complement each other beautifully. After 10 years as a 3rd level Usui Reiki practitioner, in 2014 she completed the Master level training and became a Registered Practitioner with the Canadian Reiki Association.
A certified, level 2 Urban Poling instructor, Sue hosts Nordic walking clinics, leads Nordic walking groups, and sells Urban Poles.
Sue offers wellness events, workshops and retreats, often in partnership with other service providers.
