Ryan was first introduced to yoga when a friend suggested that it might help his tendinitis; which had developed from years of playing woodwind instruments. From that point on he has been fascinated with both the physical and philosophical aspects of the practice. Over the years Ryan has been fortunate enough to study with some truly inspiring teachers, including Barbara Benagh, David Nichtern, Ginny Nadler, Cyndi Lee and Judith Hanson Lasater. In recent years Ryan has furthered his meditation study with David Nichtern and completed Barbara Benagh’s In-depth studies program.
Ryan strives to make yoga practical and applicable to anyone who walks into the classroom. Based in Boston, he leads group classes, workshops and teacher trainings at Back Bay Yoga Studio. Ryan’s teaching is a slow and focused meditation on yogasana informed by his constant study and passion for practice. He believes that all yoga should support wellness and above all is interested in helping his students develop a personal practice.
