Hi dear Yoga Community

My name is Selina Wirz and I was born on the 24.02.1992 in Bern, the capital of Switzerland. Today I live with my partner close to lake Zurich.

I have studied Facility Management at the ZhaW and I have worked in Start-ups in the Real Estate industry, Construction projects in Hospitals but also in a Global company which was related to maintenance in the real estate industry in Switzerland but also in Kopenhagen. I am an open minded personality with a passion for building up networks, connecting with people from all over the world and living a healthy lifestyle.

Next to my challenging role in the Corporate World I have always been fascinated in a sustainable and healthy life style. Work-Life Balance is a term which everyone is aware of in our todays business world but not everyone really tries to live up to it. I have been trying to include sport activities, different way of movements into my professional but also private life. In my point of view an employee is only able to perform well if he is balanced in his body and mind. Therefore its not surprising that AYAMA Yoga has found me.

I have always been active and a sporty person. Running was my passion in my twenties until I had to replace my right hip due to a birth failure (dysplasia). From this moment onwards I realised that my body needs different kinds of movement in order to stay healthy and fit. And life made me humble. After having had a long way of recovery which brought along ups and downs in my life, I started with diverse sport activities such as Kite-Surfing, Down-hill MTB, Wake-Boarding, Free-riding with my Snowboard and more. Moreover, next to the adrenalin sports, I took up Yoga and Chinese Medicine.

In order to stay flexible I have always had Yoga as a faithful companion at my side. I have started with Sivananda Yoga which is related to Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Karma-Yoga and Bhakti Yoga 2010 in Bern. Later on, when I moved to Zurich and tried Vinyasa Yoga, Yoga Nidra as well as Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Also I got introduced to Kirtan and Chanting.

Through my life journey, which has been intense so far and also influenced by an early in year hip replacement, I was guided to Yoga as a tool which enabled me to stay pain free and happy with my new hip. I am able to do even more kinds of sports than previously to my surgery because I started to dare more in life through this challenge I grew and got stronger. I wanted to pass down my experience to other people and help them to become painfree in order to live their full potential not only on a physical level but also on a mental level.

Through my corporate journey I realized how many people run into a burnout or chronic pain. I am very grateful that I found a holistic approach which helped me a lot to become painfree, prevent injuries while doing a lot of different kinds of sport as well as living my life purpose.

2022 I quit my corporate job and travelled to Indian Himalayans, the Nepali Himalayans, Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. There I did two trekkings up to 18`000 feet. Additionally, I immersed my self in a different world and culture. In the second half of my travel I set off to Costa Rica as well as Ecuador (Galapagos) where I successfully completed the 200 Yogi Club 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training and Applied Anatomy + Muscle Activation with Yogi Aaron.

AYAMA (Applied Anatomy and Muscle Activation) is a revolutionary way to practice yoga that focuses on activating and engaging muscles rather than stretching them. Yogi Aaron, creator of this powerful approach to yoga that reduces pain and risk of injury while increasing range of motion, muscle strength, stability and alignment.

Now, since June 2023 I am back in Switzerland and I am looking for a teaching opportunity. I have already started teaching my friends and family and I am excited to pass down my know-how soon either on a private basis or in a Yoga School. I am looking forward to welcome new friends and a new Yoga community soon:) Stay healthy - stay mobile and balanced. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
