Sharika is an Air Force Veteran and an advocate for mediating and finding stillness in the throes of life. She used mindfulness and meditation to help cope with and to navigate painful childhood experiences; she continued leveraging these practices into adulthood and military life. She began practicing yoga after a deployment to Iraq in 2008. But the frequent moves and traveling for work made it difficult to establish a consistent practice until moving to Bossier City, LA in 2021.
Sharika has a desire to give to others what intentional practice [of yoga] has given to her: harmony of body, mind, spirit and a sense of wholeness and connection to the vastness of our existence. She completed Aspire’s 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Heather Delia in 2023. She is especially excited about using what she has learned in teacher training to support individuals on their own personal journeys.
In addition to her passion for yoga, she enjoys reading, writing, and philanthropic work in the community. She is married and together she and her spouse have a son and a goldendoodle.
