I'm excited to now be certified for teaching yoga! As I begin this journey I look forward to learning something new everyday. To start, I would love to act as a yoga instruction consultant for people who know very little about yoga. So, I won't necessarily be teaching them every class myself but maybe providing them with my recommendations for what type of practice they might benefit most from, after hearing their unique description of needs and goals. And we can check in from time to time to see how their experience is going.
I would also like to provide a longer and more involved yoga "experience" for people interested in the deeper philosophy of yoga. So, while practicing asana, pranayama and meditation, I would use music, themes and short verses from major philosophical yoga publications to enhance the class. I plan to do this in person or live online. I'm also planning to make recorded or edited videos which include instruction along with specific discussions about yoga subjects and themes, catered to a specific person or group.
The communities I have an interest in providing yoga instruction for are athletes, people who would like to become more athletic, people with low flexibility, low range of motion and people with little knowledge of yoga. Also, the Spanish speaking community as well as people with a history of depression, anxiety and alcohol/substance abuse issues.
