Oriana’s first yoga memory is being guided into Viparti Karani (Legs up the Wall) by her father at 12 years old.  She attended her first formal yoga classes in Boston in 1998 and practiced with a wide variety of instructors until meeting Joanna Cashman with Wild Grace Yoga in 2010.  After her first class with Joanna, she practiced at her studio in Olympia, WA two-to-four times a week until attending 200 hours of training in 2012.  Oriana completed initial training and became a RYT200 in 2013, supplemented with continuing education from Joanna in 2014 and an additional 20 hours of Yoga Beyond Bars training in 2017. In 2021 she completed 88 hours of training with Yoga for First Responders (YFFR) and now primarily provides yoga classes for First Responders.

She is a member with Yoga Alliance, with three times the required teaching hours to be in good standing. Beginning in 2014, she began formal meditation classes with Sat Shree and Tuere Salla, including an 8-day Seattle Insight Dialogue Retreat in 2019. Oriana was a faculty member of the International Trauma Treatment Providers for seven years and has been a Mediation Instructor for the past 15 years, integrating breath work and movement into pedagogic learning environments.

She volunteers with the WA State Department of Corrections conducting restorative justice mediations between incarcerated individuals and crime survivors, is the Resilience and Wellness Coordinator for the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and is a member of the Region 3 Crisis Negotiation Team. Her additional work is as a trauma therapist in private practice focused on First Responders. For joy, Oriana engages in authentic movement as a 5 Rhythms dancer and hikes as much as possible with her husband.
