MIMI MIZUHO HORIUCHI

My passion for health and well-being stems from my own ulcerative colitis by mental stress and my aunt became keeping alive at a vegetative level by her cerebral hemorrhage. Through the healing process of my own body and nursing my aunt, I learnt first-hand the rewards of training the body and mind.

My yoga journey began after I was blaming myself for the accidental death of my roommate. My heart felt like it's going to explode and then I sought out yoga and meditation for healing.

I am a yoga teacher with over 2600 hours of teaching experience. I began practicing yoga in 2006 and started teaching in 2007.I taught for 1 years in San Diego, CA, at the Yoga Well Center & Cuyamaca College. Then I moved to Japan and I taught for 14 years in Tokyo, Kawasaki city, Nagono, Shimane and Okinawa, Japan. Additionally, working as Yoga & Meditation Fitness Trainer at Ishikawa School in Okinawa, a support facility for people with disabilities for 2 years. Then As an NLP Psychology Trainer at the Human Academy, I taught NLP psychology certification courses, worked for 4 years. I taught at my own studio in San Diego, Tokyo, Kawasaki city, as well as Okinawa in Japan. I organized Yoga Teacher Training Retreat to Haimurubushi Resort Hotel in Kohama Island, Okinawa. I have been teaching at my own studio in Okinawa for  Yoga Teacher Training Course, NLP psychology certification courses, and Massage Therapist Certification courses over 11 years. Additionally, I work in massage in my own Salon in Okinawa for 11 years.

I studied at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat in Bahamas and received my 200 hour yoga teacher training. Additionally, I studied

Yoga Well Center of La Mesa, Ca. and received my 500 hour yoga teacher training from Kathy Lee Kappmeier, founder of YogaWell in San Diego, Ca. I studied Restorative Yoga and received yoga  teacher training from Tianne Allan.  I studied and received my 32 hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training from Ken Hanakuma. Additionally, I studied Kundalini Yoga and received my 200 hour yoga teacher training from Gurmukh in India. I attend and studied Yoga retreat training tour in India from Jared McCann. I regularly attend hot yoga. I teach more of a Kundalini Yoga, Sivananda Yoga and Vinyasa Hatha style, while integrating details from the Sivananda and Kundalini tradition, but really I teach to the students I have in the class at that moment.

The experience of profound healing was so powerfully transformative, I now devote my time to sharing all that I have been blessed to learn and come to undestand through my journey. I am grateful and honoured to have been teaching for almost 16 years, and thrilled to meet and teach so many incredible people around the world!
