Amy Donnon, RYT 200, has enjoyed a lifelong yoga practice that has evolved over the past 25 years. I came to yoga at the local YMCA as a complement to my other gym activity. It was purely a part of my fitness routine. Years later, I began to learn the more spiritual and emotional side of yoga, and my part-time practice developed into a full-time love of all aspects of yoga. It took even more years for me to learn and grow in my practice on all levels, specifically spiritually and energetically. The mindfulness, the asanas, the pranayama, the yamas and niyamas are all elements of yoga that I brought to my husband and my kids too. So I finally took the leap to get certified. I attended the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja Sur, Mexico. It was a magical experience that transformed me from a reluctant caterpillar into a butterfly; full of the colors of my experience, enriched by the family created with fellow yogis, and feeling more loved and capable of sharing love than I have ever felt. Moving forward, I make it my intention to guide the asanas and share the messages of the yamas and niyamas each time I teach and to always do so from a place of immense love for my students, myself, and the practice.
