Sheila (°5 February 1992) is a very empathic soul who is exploring yoga since 2014.

She started ballet when she was 3 years old in ‘Fit Dance’ led by Hélène De Vrieze. When Sheila turned 7, she enriched herself with other dance styles including pointes, jazz, contemporary, urban, break, musical and more.

Since high school, she danced 22 hours a week, joined different crews with whom she won competitions like ‘Kunstbende’, ‘Dance Avenue’, ‘Dance Waves’ and got a 3rd place in the European competition ‘Kamata Jazz’.

In the meantime, Sheila studied physical activity and kinesiology at the university of Leuven for 6 years and accomplished her master’s degree in 2016. She learned a lot about the human body including anatomy, injury prevention, training schedules and more. She will be forever grateful for these studies and was eager for more.

Sheila got a daughter in 2017 and realised after one more year of competition – which involves a lot of stress, pressure from teachers and a focus on winning only –  she wasn’t doing the things that made her happy. So, she started to invest more in time itself and started to search for the things that really matter.

It became clear that the sporadic yoga moments that started in 2014 were a nice opportunity to recharge herself and foresee her from the necessary time to think clearly about some missing gaps. She found out her priority is her family and that her main goal in life was teaching.

She already taught dance classes as an assistant coach from 13 years old and never stopped teaching since, but never knew it was that part of her life that made her happy. She loves seeing people grow and loves being a humble part of helping them in their own process.

Her teaching experience was broadened in 2014 and Sheila started student jobs in different dance studios and fitness centra. Immediately after her studies she had the opportunity to start working at the university of Leuven, where she still teaches.
In 2019 she also opened her own studio ‘Ke Ola’ where she teaches dance, yoga and corax. She wants to help children, adolescents and adults grow on their own time and space. Everyone is welcome and everyone can and may learn in their own way.

That is the reason why Sheila slowly turned her direction to yoga. She found out it is more than just another physical way of moving. In yoga – as in dance – you learn to listen to your body, learn to use your emotions and learn to let go of control. In yoga we can definitely go a few steps further. In those moments of practice, we are allowed to find ourselves in the stillness and that is unique. It is a safe and calm way to reconnect with yourself or even more.

Up till now Sheila followed a ‘200hrs teacher training’ and a ‘yoga trapeze teacher training’ to obtain more knowledge, but this is only the beginning. She will continue her education as much as possible because learning is a way to keep developing yourself and she just loves it!

In short, for Sheila yoga became a way to focus, a way of processing, a way of clearing your own path, so you can walk on it in peace. Without interfering in peoples own process, she tries to guide, to listen and to adjust whenever and wherever she’s needed.
