I discovered yoga in 2009 after my first son was born. Before yoga, I was severely obese and I struggled with loving myself. I was in pain both physically and emotionally, knowing that I had to make a big change if I was going to live a more fulfilling life. I started practicing yoga at home and eventually took private lessons to grow in my practice. I enjoyed learning how each pose, breath, and movement could affect your whole being.
After yoga, I had a much greater appreciation for my body and it’s capabilities. I have never been thin, but now I know that I am beautiful, that I am strong, and that I am capable of doing anything I set my mind to. For me, yoga isn’t about how you look on the outside or even how many advanced poses you can do. It’s about connecting your body to your mind, gaining a deep awareness of who you truly are, and enjoying the body that was specifically designed for you. It’s about using your body in the most effective way possible, opening up your potential, and your heart.
