At one of my darkest moments five years ago yoga found me through a stranger I had picked up for a ride. At only 27 I had lived through what felt like three lifetimes of trials. These traumatic experiences left me doubting myself, everyone around me, and the entire world. One free session offered from this stranger was enough for me to get hooked to the feelings of bliss, peace, love, and strength. I experienced the transformative and holistic healing power of yoga first-hand. Although I double majored in Art History and Political Science and worked in some famous museums, this life did not feel like my life. Becoming a yoga teacher was constantly in the back of my head. I fell in love with art because I love creativity. Yoga, too, is an art where the body/mind is the canvas and the asanas are the strokes of a brush. Before the pandemic in 2020, I travelled to Thailand to pursue an incredible Yoga Teacher Training at Luna Alignment Yoga and then abruptly returned home due to the situation. Fortunately, this setback also led me into the wonderful Online Yoga School community brought into life by Steph Ball-Mitchell where I completed the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certification. Both programs taught me that yoga is not about putting your legs behind your head but the point of yoga is a journey of love that leads to finding your individual connection to your body, your higher self, other people or the universe. For me, teaching yoga is about supporting, guiding and serving the students on their individual paths to experiencing physical and mental benefits through the state of moving meditation. Thus, in my classes students are encouraged to explore their evolutions of body alignment and inner work in Hatha, Restorative or Yin Yoga styles with plenty of modifications and variations.
