Prema was born and raised in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. She has been studying and practicing applied yogic philosophy in human development since 2012. As a full time resident of the Sat Yoga Ashram, Prema received half a decade of direct training and applied practice with Shunyamurti in the approach to healing arts. She is formally trained in Advaita Vedanta and Samkhya philosophy, meditation and comparative religion and has been introduced to the teachings of great depth psychologists as Klein, Jung and Lacan. Her views on trauma, healing and meaning-making are influenced by the work of Bessel van der Kolk and jungian psychoanalyst Marion Woodman. Her interdisciplinary approach to human development continues to pour forth in her teachings.
She has worked in faculty at Nexus Yoga Institute in Nosara, Costa Rica as a teacher trainer at the 200 hour and 300 hour level and Self-Awakening Yoga where she has assisted hundreds of graduates in their education as yoga teachers and facilitators.
Prema is the director of Omprov, a healing arts approach based in Kansas City, Missouri. She is also the co-founder of the Therapeutic Yoga Institute, where she continuously offers integration opportunities to yoga teachers and practitioners through retreats, workshops and seminars focused on yoga history, applied philosophy and education. She is a teacher at Lotus Care KC Yoga Therapy and Wellness Studio where she currently leads therapeutic yoga and fascia wall classes, as well as meditation and drama informed spaces.
Prema weaves into her teaching practice her threads of experience as an ongoing learner. Her teaching is infused with her love for human development and the healing power of loving awareness.
