Görkem Dizdarwas born in Izmir on December 26, 1979. After completing his secondary education in Izmir College he got his Bachelor Degreein Physical Therapyfrom Dokuz Eylul University. Following to this he has received his Master of Science in the same university and still continues with his PhD.


In addition to these he has completed Mulligan Mobilisation Courses andKinesiotaping(KT1-KT2) in 2009. In 2010 he has received his Mastery Certificate in ManuelTherapy(MCMT)with Hands-On Seminars from NY and Pilates Certificationfrom General Directorate of Youth and Sportsin Turkey. He has completed his first 8 week basic course on NDT/Bobath withEuropean Bobath Tutors Association (EBTA)and spinal modules of McKenzie Method of MechanicalDiagnosis and Therapyin 2011.


In 2011 he has also started working with children with Sensory Integration Disordersand completed Prechtal Analysis (General Movement Trust)in 2013. In 2014 he took a second basic course in Management and Treatmentof Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Neuromotor Disorderswith Neuro Developmental TreatmentAssociationbecame a NDTA certified physiotherapist.


In 2015 he completed NDTA/Bobath Approved Advance Course in the Treatmentof Babiesin ThessalonikiGreecealso became a faculty of Hands-On Seminarsand has been teaching MCMT courses in Turkey.

He has been practicing physiotherapy since 2001, working mainly with children with neurological disorders and patients with musculoskeletal problems. He has done his MSc thesis on the “Musculoskeletal Injuries of Professional Dancers”in 2006 and since then he has been consulting dancers from various dance companies. He has also taken part in many projects such as Movement for Healthand Balance & Fall Prevention Programs.


He has been a memberof International Association for DanceMedicine and Science (IADMS) since 2002, Sports Physiotherapy Association of Turkey and Pediatric Physiotherapy Association of Turkeysince 2008. He became a member of Neuro - Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA)in 2014. He also has served as a board memberof Turkish Physiotherapy Associationbetween 2013-2015. 


Apart from the ones mentioned above he has done different courses through his career such as; Dry needling, Developmental Orthopedics and Orthotics, Reflexology, Body Awareness, Thera-Togs, Movement Analysis, Matrix RhythmTherapy, Serial Casting, Postural Control and Motor Learning.


In clinical practice, his philosophy includes using manual therapyto restore joint mechanics followed by muscle retraining and motor control strategiesto correct movement dysfunction. He believes in cleaning restrictions of body and mindin order to maintain the natural flow of the movementin human body. 


His approach originates from the unique, effortless development principles of the movement in infants regardless of gender, race or religion; underlying the idea ofUnity of Nature and Human.Those universal principles of human motor developmentforms the core of his teachings.  He provides individualized, one-on-one treatmentand develops exercise programs geared toward the level and goals of the patients as well as courses for movement specialists.


Gorkem has a special reputation amongYoga instructorsfor the point of view he provided to Asana Posture Practice of Yoga. He has done courses with yoga instructors about the natural development and the flow of movement in human bodyand how &why it becomes restricted over time.  Especially his interpretation of the yin-yang balance on the components of motor developmentand its application on human body brings in so much interest to his courses and trainings. 


He currently works at Smyrna Dance & Movement Studio and has been teaching as a guest lecturer in several universities at Istanbul.
