Bio... a little about my yoga journey ...
Hatha Yoga, means to calm the mind, body and spirit. I teach Yin Yoga, which is a restoring practice, restoring the body, and encouraging the body to release pain and inflammation. Vinyasa Yoga, which builds up the heart rate, and is a more rigorous class is also part of my practice, including Core Yoga. In my local community I hold a Chair Yoga workshop for the Bolton Italian Cultural Centre, and regularly volunteer for Caledon Community Services, working with the seniors, doing Chair Yoga. I also hold workshops for AdvantAge Ontario, and volunteer a large portion of my free time working with Trauma Survivors and have designed a 7 week Trauma Informed Yoga Workshop for survivors of Trauma, to work through the somatic body, release pain and inflammation, using CBT as a tool to release from the mind, body and spirit, what may have been left behind from life experiences.
To find out more about this 7 week workshop of Trauma Informed Yoga, or my authentic 4 -6 week Meditation Workshops please call Tel 416 720 8941.
"My name is Nicola, I originally began Yoga when I was in high school, and even though at the time, there was no way I could get into most of those postures/asanas that our teacher guided us through, the breathe work has helped me throughout the rest of my life.
I went fully back into my yoga practice a few years back now. And decided to complete my YTT 200 hour course, for which I am so grateful for.
When I first went back into yoga, I soon realized after only 3 or 4 classes, that energy was trapped inside my body. I had had an inner ear issue for years on end, probably done either through diving, or frequent flying? And I thought it was permanent! Then suddenly it just cleared completely, and never came back again, which really surprised me.
At the same time I had inflammation from arthritis in my right hip, (which was extremely painful all Winter long) this also started to release, after only 3 sessions! It was some time ago now, I discovered by accident I could get my body into more difficult poses, such as half lotus in Tree/Vrikshasana pose, which came as a complete shock, my hips have opened, though there is still work to be done, I live pain free.
I have designed a yoga workshop for trauma survivors, and do Chair Yoga for the senior community, as a volunteer, as yoga has given me so much, and I genuinely would like to share this gift, as it truly is a gift “that just keeps on giving” I have been working with survivors of childhood and adult trauma since 2014, online over the telephone and face-to-face.
You will hear me using sanskrit throughout my class, embracing spirituality, balancing mind, body and spirit into presence. It is with a grateful, open and loving heart, that I teach Meditation, Yoga and practice Ayurveda Head Massage, as well as do Reflexology, Reiki and Indian Head Massage.
When we are using the breathe to flow freely, we are doing yoga. Please join with me, at one of my classes, my schedule can be found here www.nicolayoga.ca
I look forward to assisting you, and guiding you, in your practice.
