I found my love for yoga while working as a clinical psychotherapist and psychiatric researcher. From the first moment I stepped on my mat I could feel something shift inside of myself.
While I quickly gained strength and flexibility, I began noticing my mind quieting and my attitude towards my body changing. Once harshly self critical I found myself appreciating my body more often than not.
I understand what it feels like to mistrust my own body and mind. I remember feeling disconnected from nearly everything in my life to include myself. Yoga was the one tool that helped me to reconnect with my body, calm my mind and renew my relationship with my spirit.
Throughout the years of teaching yoga I’ve studied and integrated the balance between the mind, body and spirit and am able to utilize my expertise to create one of a kind classes to support my students needs and goals. My background experiences include helping people regain strength and flexibility after injuries and surgery, assisting wounded veterans to reconnect with their bodies through movement and meditation, working within middle and high school systems guiding teachers and students towards calm confidence as well as working within the juvenile detention system guiding teens towards healthy self image and trauma recovery.
When you experience this kind of work it never leaves you and you never leave it. My students can expect to learn sustainable tools that will carry them towards wellness, peace and integration.
