Sally B. Sakin is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).
My interest in yoga developed while dealing with the lose of my husband. I found increased ability to trust my inner voice and remain level-headed as I was thrust into increasing responsibilities as a result of his loss. I also understood my relationship with him much better through the calm yoga helped create internally.
As my willingness to open to the spiritual side opened, I also found that I could better accept the years I had spent raising a child with multiple disabilities. I had been a passionate advocate in recreation and education for those with disabilities, for my daughter and because of her. But, I increasingly saw the benefits of yoga for individuals with physical disabilities, mental health disorders, and trauma.
I have been certified in Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga and trauma informed yoga through the Sundara Yoga program called Overcome. I teach various methodologies to accommodate students with disabilities including classes for individuals in wheelchairs via Zoom. I teach specific classes for the Rocky Mountain Stroke center for groups who are recovering from Strokes. I offer classes, often pro bon, for local non-profit organizations to address their client needs around trauma, anxiety and resilience. I am also trained and working toward certification in TRE Trauma Release Exercises Developed by Dr. david Bercilli, this is a unique way to release trauma from the body through tremoring.
In my yoga therapy training, I will create specialized practices for individuals designed to meet their individuals needs and capabilities.
