Julia Siporin is a Registered Yoga Teacher E-RYT 500 and YACEP with Yoga Alliance. She has completed the 200 & 300 hour Teacher Training programs with Scott Anderson (Alignment Yoga founder) and a 200 hr YTT with Sarahjoy Marsh (Daya Foundation). Yoga Alliance acknowledges the completion of these yoga teacher trainings with approved and active Registered Yoga Schools (RYS).
Julia came to yoga in 1973 and meditation in 1975. She became enamored with the strong anatomy and mindfulness components of Alignment Yoga. Using the elements of yoga asana, pranayama, bandhas, kriyas and mindful awareness, Julia offers students the opportunity to explore the workings of their own mind in the landscape of their body to develop greater ease, resilience, and equanimity while building sustainable strength.
Julia has taught the Alignment Yoga 200 hour teacher trainings since 2016 and assisted in Scott Anderson’s Alignment Yoga 500 hour training.
In addition to mostly gentle Alignment Yoga drop-in classes, Julia offers private yoga sessions, and a variety of series classes: Yoga for Healthy Aging, Yoga for Healthy Bones, Yoga for Healthy Hips and Back, and Yoga for Bird Watching to address the needs of those with springtime "Warbler's Neck" 😉.
She leads numerous yoga and meditation retreats in warm places with lots of amazing birds – her other passion.
In addition to yoga, her home practice includes daily meditation with some Pilates, and foam rolling.
Julia is an avid bird watcher leading monthly bird-walks and teaches annual workshops on bird song identification for the community. She participates in numerous citizen-science projects related to birds each year.
Julia and her husband live in a garden paradise which they share with their beloved cat, Pistachio.
