Jonni-Lyn Friel is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with an approved and active Registered Yoga School (RYS). She is a bright, exuberant and compassionate teacher. Born to hippies in Canada, her first teachers were her parents. She learned Yoga by watching her parents and practicing together with them. One of her first memories is of travelling through the Rocky Mountains on the train with her Father doing a headstand as they passed through the towns. As a competitive swimmer, Yoga helped her get through the angst of being 13 and shoulder injuries. Having travelled the world backpacking and practicing Yoga throughout her 20’s, she finally entered her first formal Yoga class at 27. The formal situation of a class, sequencing and philosophy opened up a whole new world of Yoga. Her first Teacher Training was done in 2006 in Athens, Greece and that was when she discovered her Dharma. Teaching Yoga combines all of the great loves and practices of life for Jonni-Lyn and she feels honored to be able to be a part of this tradition. A perpetual student, she continued to travel, seek out and study with teachers of every tradition. From famous teachers to teachers living in a jungle, she has been so lucky to have studied, gained skills and knowledge from them all. In 2013 she became a Jivamukti Teacher and had a baby. It was a busy year. Both experiences were incredible and pushed her to grow, both as a teacher and as a person. For years she was based in Athens,Greece and a partner in a small yoga studio. There she felt honoured to serve the community and had the joy of being a part of her students lives and watching them grow. She has been a co-teacher for 200 hour TTC's for the last 5 years and specialises in Vinyasa Krama and the Bhagavad Gita. Recently, she gave it all up, to move back to Canada, where she now calls Victoria home.
