DrishtiYoga came to be in 2016. I had just finished my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and thought "who's going to hire me; a not so flexible, not so skinny and definitely not so young woman, who came yoga to mend her beat up and what felt like an ancient old body". I realized I needed to start my own business. I focused on my target demographics (people like me) and was given an opportunity to have use of space for a very nominal fee. I chose the name DrishtiYoga because it took drishti to get through my teacher training (I felt like a fish out of water and many times was thinking about throwing in the towel) with the support of a few good friends I persevered. After a name search and business application, insurance and business cards I set out by offering a few free workshops focusing on people who would say "I can't do yoga"
DrishtiYoga yoga is growing, my class size is limited to 10 people, I supply all props and travel to different places to teach classes. I teach roughly 10 Classes a week, and I also I offer private classes. I continue with my yoga education by taking workshops that are specific to the needs of my target demographics. I bring my passion for yoga to every class I teach, I want people to embrace their bodies. Our bodies have carried us far in our lives; they have been bumped, bruised, broken and beat up, not only from day to day life, but through injuries, hard work and accidents. Every scar, every wrinkle is "the story of us", we are still here...let's embrace our body.
