Hi, I am Heather.
My teaching is inspired by Shaiva Tantra, through the writings of Hareesh Wallis and, through my ongoing study of Katy Bowman's work in biomechanics. I am enlivened by the the integration of these works and their relationships on all levels. My teaching is less about getting into the shapes of yoga and more about exploring how it is that we are moving into our practice through our intention, our story and our body. How I move into breath practice is not separate from how I move into yoga asana or meditation. It is with great care that we use these tools provided through yoga to observe ourselves experiencing.
My approach is a relaxed one and I welcome, with all my heart, the very alive and dynamic conversation around yoga that is popping up all over the world. Your thoughts and experiences matter and I love to hear about them. I am currently running classes out of the Sound Movement Lab in Gibsons, British Columbia.
I am an RYT500, registered with Yoga Alliance. I am also an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM CPT) and a Universal White Time, Level III Practitioner. I am trained in Alignment-Based Hatha practice.
I am also inspired by the writings and works of B.K.S. Iyengar, Orit Sen-Gupta, Adyashanti, Byron Katie, Marshall Rosenberg, Don Miguel Ruiz, Doug Keller and Eric Franklin.
