Marissa Guerrero Elliott is currently a yoga instructor at Crofton Yoga and Fit4Mom Chesapeake. In recent past, she has taught yoga at Towson University, MD as an adjunct professor. Marissa is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS). She had the opportunity to be an independent Yoga instructor both in Redondo Beach and Irvine, CA for three years where she taught a wide array of clients, mainly beginner/intermediate yogis, at varied outdoor locations. She explores anatomy, imagery, meditative and flow yoga in her classes. In addition to her Yoga experience, Marissa was a local dance artist and educator in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area for 10 years. She performed professionally with companies like the Arts United of Washington, Jeslyn Dance Gallery, Next Reflex Dance Collective, Gesel Mason Performance Projects, NY2 dance company, and VT Dance. Marissa performed works by Helen Tamaris, Mark Haim, Monica Bill Barnes, Lionel Popkin, Nejla Yatkin, Vincent Thomas, and Alvin Mayes. She has served as a dance faculty member at Towson University and University of Maryland, College Park, plus a guest artist and arts administrator at the Maryland Youth Ballet. She taught Jazz and Modern dance technique class, plus online Dance Theory courses for the college students. Before moving to the Washington D.C. area, Marissa earned a B.F.A. in choreography and performance from the Ohio University, Athens in 2001. She received her M.F.A. in choreography from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2008. Marissa is looking forward to opportunities yoga will bring to her dance experience and plans to expand her yoga training by completing her 500 hours.
