The first fifty minutes of class is used for Hatha Yoga. Our focus is on mindful awareness while holding asanas that enhance balance, flexibility, strengthen and tone. Flexibility is not required but will improve with practice.
By bringing mindfulness into yoga practice students learn how to take yoga off the mat and incorporate the skills of yoga into your daily life, nurturing mind, body and spirit.
The last 10 minutes is dedicated to guided meditation. During this time, we practice yoga nidra (similar to the style of Satyananda Saraswati) and metta meditation. Yoga nidra is an ancient and very deep form of relaxation, which enhances concentration and feelings of wellbeing. Metta meditation is a form of meditation that has been used for over 2000 to cultivate compassion.
