Debbie Bhowmik

I started practising  Yoga in 2005  to aid the recovery from an operation where a disc was removed from my lower back and as a result of the assisted nurturing  process I instantly fell in love with all aspects of Yoga

As a consequence  in 2015 I chose to pursue my  studies and understanding of Yoga, travelling  to Rishikesh, India where I successfully completed a 200 hour Yoga Teaching Training course.

I continue travelling to India several times a year  to study with Pranam Yoga Joseph in Varkala. Joseph has not only allowed me  to take my personal practice to a more profound level, but also my  teaching methodology and understanding of Yoga.  He is always very keen for me  to stay longer in India and  continually encourages me to assist him teaching.

I  recently studied and qualified to teach Yoga Nidra, and is also a Reiki Master -  the perfect compliment for yoga classes.

My journey as a  Hatha Yoga Teacher  has led to teaching in my home city of London. where I have  taught small groups,  bespoke early morning sessions in Grosvenor Square Mayfair, corporate sessions in  private members clubs well as personal one to one sessions with selected clients . My other great passion for travel has allowed me to teach Internationally -  from the unspoilt beautiful beaches  of Thailand, to Colombia,  Miami and across Europe.

My belief is  that Yoga is a breathing exercise with movement,  rather than a movement based exercise.

‘If you can breath you can do Yoga. I am passionate about teaching beginners and introducing them to the J.O.Y of Yoga including  people with injuries. However I embrace more experienced students guiding  and encouraging them to deepen their practice. There are no age limits;  I have students ranging in age from 4-70“

There is  always a  sense of fun and adventure in my  classes,  as a result my students leave  smiling from the heart. One of my  mottos is

“Yoga is not a sport- you don’t have to win!”

I  passionately believe,  that  neither age, language  nor ability need ever  should  stand in the of way starting to  practicing Yoga.

Going forward, I will be  co-hosting retreats across the globe.  Having visiting Colombia for the first time in 2018, I have  already  been asked to return next year as a guest teacher for Akhlia Om Yoga.

“ I feel very blessed I now get to combine my two great passions Yoga and Travel “
